Happy Holidays From The Foisys!

I know this time of year can be very stressful and busy.

I want to keep this week's blog post short and sweet, because if you are anything like me, I got a tons of stuff to do before our North Pole Visitor comes to town.

Trying to keep up with self care in the midst of holiday craziness can in itself make you go bonkners.

This is one technique I use when I am feeling too much anxiety.

It's called box breathing.

Have you heard of it?

It's simple.

To start, all you need to do is close your eyes, and imagine a box.

Got it?

Great!

Now, you are going to breathe around the box.

I do clockwise, but find what works for you.

Start at the top right corner.

Breathe in, Count 4, and move to the bottom right.

Then breathe out, count 4, and move to the bottom left.

Again, breathe in, count 4, move to the top left.

You guessed it, breathe out, move to the top right.

I do this rotation three times and it helps to activate the parasympathetic nervous system, which is the 'rest and relax' part of your brain.

I hope this exercise has been helpful!

I wish you a happy holidays, see you in the new year!

Heather (& Marc)
