Wellness Warrior: Nicole Fogel
Updated: Mar 2, 2021
I recently read this article about about a fellow Lupus Warrior. If you're just tuning into my blog, I want you to know that I have been diagnosed with Sjogren's Syndrome and Lupus.
For those of us in the rheumatic autoimmune world, we understand that many of these illnesses overlap, and Sjogren's and Lupus are a good example. In fact, these diseases have so many overlapping symptoms, some call them sister diseases.
I monitor articles, blogs and support groups related to Sjogren's Syndrome and Lupus, and I am always happy when I come across a post like this one. This article outlines how an individual, Nicole Fogel , was a successful business women who had her life turned upside down by Lupus.
She experienced life like so many of us have endured. Hardship and loss as a result of an relentless illness.
When Nicole was hit hard by her illness, she hit back harder. She took this incredibly negative situation and turned it into a positive one. Nicole was able to find healing on her own in Hawaii after experiencing the loss of a family member. Her healing journey has such a large impact on her that she had to share it with others. She developed a wellness retreat aimed at helping other Lupus warriors heal.
What an amazing story.
Nicole you are truly an inspiration.
I wanted tot share this story with my followers because I think there is a great lesson we can all take away from this.
Grieving is a process. Grieving is normal, especially following a diagnosis of a chronic illness. Take the time you need to grieve and heal in your own way. Be self aware of what your mind and body need to process your emotions. Find healthy coping skills and supports. If you can, share your healing with others.
There are lots of ways to share your healing. I am not suggesting you start up your own wellness retreat (although that would be awesome!). Find a local support group and share your story. Write to yourself in a journal. Share your story online.
In my case, I started this blog.
I want to share my story. I want to help you heal. I want to see all of us living with a chronic illness to find peace and happiness in our lives even with the adversity we have been dealt.
I hope you'll continue to follow me on my journey by visitng my blog and providing feedback in the comments.
Lastly, to Nicole Fogel - Thank You for inspiring us all to find wellnesw in our lives.
Health and Happiness,
Heather 💜
